The Pittsburgh Steelers first round selection is in the books. Offensive tackle Troy Fautanu is the newest member of the organization. With the second round just hours away, it is time for us to take our shot at nailing the Steelers second round pick in 5 tries. Positions like center, corner, and wide receiver are still major needs heading into day two. With all that being said, lets give this a shot:
1. Zach Frazier C – West Virginia

As much as the Steelers loved Troy Fautanu in the draft process, I can see them loving Frazier just as much. Center may be the position of most need heading into day two for the team, and Frazier would be a plug and play option for Pittsburgh. The drop off at center is steep after this player. If they don’t take Frazier at 51, the Steelers may have to punt the position until day 3.
2. Max Melton CB – Rutgers

Another position of need for the Steelers is slot corner. Max Melton could fill that role extremely well, and play on the outside if necessary. His 4.3/40 time, and willingness in the run game make him an ideal fit for this defense. If centers are off the board at 51, Melton is a name we could hear called as the Steelers second round pick.
He has been a name we have had throughout our mock drafts, including our final one here: Steelers mock draft 4.0: The Final One
3. Malachi Corley WR – Western Kentucky

The Steelers need a wide receiver badly. We still think they ending making a splash, and trading for one at some point in the next couple of days. If they don’t make a trade, Malachi Corley is a name to keep an eye on. We will be well into the second tier of wideouts come pick 51, and Corley probably is the best of that bunch. He was dubbed the “YAC king” at Western Kentucky for his abilities once the ball is in his hands. Corley would be a good fit in the Arthur Smith offense. https://herosports.com/fbs-nfl-draft-malachi-corley-western-kentucky-yac-king-cpcp/
4. Andru Phillips CB – Kentucky

Another slot capable corner we think the Steelers will be interested come pick 51. Phillips is an explosive athlete with good size for the position. Pittsburgh had him in for a visit so there is interest. It seems the way the draft has gone so far, corner might be the position with most value in the second round.
5. Ruke Orhorhoro

We couldn’t do this exercise without having a defensive tackle in the mix. Orhofhoro is a raw athlete that meets the size and arm length criteria the Steelers love at the position. He is 6’4”, with 34” arms, which is a rare body type in this draft. Lots of upside, and an exceptional athlete make him very attractive to the Steelers.
