Everyone has their favorites they would like to see Pittsburgh get in tonight’s draft.  We are no different.  Here is our top five players we want the Steelers to take in round one:

1.  Creed Humphrey – C – Oklahoma:

Creed Humphrey is the best center in this draft, and the Steelers have the worst center in the NFL.  Done and done. Drafting this player would make this offensive line significantly better.  That’s how you fix a run game.

2.  Teven Jenkins – OT – Oklahoma St,:

Give me a big, physical, nasty offensive lineman every day of the week.  Pittsburgh’s offensive line could really use a tone setter like Jenkins.  Much like the case with Humphrey, this is a long shot given Tomlin and Colbert did not attend either pro-day.

3.  Caleb Farley – CB – Virginia Tech:

Do you like a fair bit of risk, with home run type upside?  Then Caleb Farley is your guy.  This player was a lock to be a top ten pick before he had his second back surgery.  https://www.nfl.com/news/virginia-tech-cb-prospect-caleb-farley-s-stock-one-of-biggest-questions-in-2021-

The Steelers almost never have a chance to draft such a talented corner.  If they were comfortable with his medicals, Farley would be a tough player to pass up.

4.  Justin Fields – QB – Ohio St.:

The range of where people think Justin Fields is going in the first round is wider than any other player in this draft.  We suggested the in an earlier post that the Steelers would have to trade up to be in contention to get Fields.  Justin Fields to the Steelers? It’s not as crazy as you think.

There have now been several rumors swirling lately that he may fall to the end of the round however.  Justin Fields falling to 24 would be a huge stroke of luck for this franchise.

5.  Jason Oweh – EDGE – Penn St.:

I don’t know about you, but give me an edge rusher in every draft for the Steelers.  Especially one with the type of athletic numbers Jason Oweh put up at his pro-day.  Sure he didn’t record a sack this past season, but I’m willing to risk it on this type of elite athlete.
