Now that the dust has settled on the injury to Senquez Golson, the question of what the Steelers should do next needs to be explored. Pittsburgh has been linked to signing Kevin White Jr out of TCU. White went undrafted in 2014 because of a subpar 40 time, and can only be considered a camp body at this time. Rookie Artie Burns and second year man Doran Grant are the only real depth Pittsburgh has at this point. Another rookie Sean Davis, has seen time at slot corner in camp early on. Pittsburgh had depth and experience issues at corner to begin with, now they are simply too thin at the position going forward.
Antonio Cromartie would seem to be the perfect solution for the Steelers. Cromartie is coming off perhaps his worst season as a pro. So much so that the Jets released the veteran corner after the first year of his four year contract. That being said, Pittsburgh is not looking for a Pro-Bowler here. What they are looking for is a veteran who could step in if another corner went down. Cromartie has a pretty good resume under his belt. He is a four time Pro-Bowler in his ten year career. He lead the NFL in interceptions in 2007, on his way to being an All-Pro that season. At 32, Cromartie probably has one or two decent seasons left in him. With the free agent market pretty much baron at this point, the Steelers could do a lot worse to solve their corner back issues.
