After five to six games depending on the team, you can begin to get a pretty good feel for where teams are.  Having said that, here is the Steelers Sanctuary  power rankings leading into week 7:

The Elite:

1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)

2.  Pittsburgh Steelers (5-0)

3.  Seattle Seahawks (5-0)

4.  Baltimore Ravens (5-1)

5.  Tennessee Titans (5-0)

6.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2)

These six teams stand out above the rest in our power rankings.  The Chiefs are still the best team until proven otherwise.  Their offense is just that much better than anyone else.  The Pittsburgh Steelers may be the most complete team in the NFL.  Their defense is elite, while the offense has the potential to be excellent. 2020 Steelers defense is the best of the Mike Tomlin era

Seattle is a one trick pony.  The defense is bad, while the offense is solely dependent on Russel Wilson.  Tampa is another team with a great defense.  If Tom Brady ever gets it going the Bucs could be the NFC representative in the Super Bowl.

Playoff Caliber, but…..

7.  Green Bay Packers (4-1)

8.  Buffalo Bills (4-2)

9.  Chicago Bears (5-1)

10.  Los Angeles Rams (4-2)

11. New Orleans Saints (3-2)

12.  Indianapolis Colts (4-2)

13.  Las Vegas Raiders (3-2)

14.  Arizona Cardinals (4-2)

15.  Cleveland Browns (4-2)

16.  San Francisco 49ers (3-3)

17.  Miami Dolphins (3-3)

18.  Carolina Panthers (3-3)

With the NFL going with an extra wild card spot in each conference this year, all these teams have a realistic shot to make the post season.  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28975474/nfl-playoff-expansion-14-teams-everything-need-know

The Saints should be in the elite category, but there is something very wrong in New Orleans.  Whether its a declining Drew Brees, or a troubled Micheal Thomas, all is not well there.  We are not convinced the Bears or the Packers are for real.

NFL Purgatory:

19. New England Patriots (2-3)

20.  Philadelphia Eagles (1-4-1)

21.  Dallas Cowboys (2-4)

22. Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)

23.  Detroit Lions (2-3)

24.  Denver Broncos (2-3)

25.  Cincinnati Bengals (1-4-1)

As the name suggests, these teams are going nowhere fast.  Not good enough to make the playoffs, not bad enough for a top five pick.  Ironically there will be a playoff team despite none of these teams being any good.  Someone has to win the NFC East, and will probably do so with a losing record.  If the Eagles could ever get healthy they are a tick better than the rest.  They could scratch there way up a level in the coming weeks.

Tanking For Trevor:

26.  Houston Texans (1-5)

27.  Minnesota Vikings (1-5)

28.  Atlanta Falcons (1-5)

29.  Washington Football Team (1-5)

30.  Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5)

31.  New York Giants (1-5)

32.  New York Jets (0-6)

The New York Jets are as bad as any team we have seen in the last twenty years.  There is very little talent, the coach is a train wreck, and injuries are taking their toll.  This franchise will be extremely lucky to win a game in 2020.  The state of New York football doesn’t get much better with the Giants either.  With the exception of the Texans, every one of these teams will be ecstatic to get the number one overall pick so they can draft Trevor Lawrence.
