There are tons of mock drafts out there right now. If you’ve read any, you’ll know most of them are terrible at predicting who the Steelers will select. No, they will not be taking a tackle. No, they will not be taking an un-athletic corner. Let’s take a realistic look at who the Pittsburgh Steelers will be taking in the 2019 draft:

ROUND 1: Devin Bush – LB – Michigan

This is the easiest prediction in the draft. The Steelers want this player badly. The only question is will Bush still be there at 20. Kevin Colbert may have to trade up to get their guy this time around. However it happens, if Devin Bush is in the board when the team selects he will be the pick.

ROUND 2: Trayvon Mullen – C – Clemson

Pittsburgh had plenty of eyes on the Clemson pro day including Colbert and Mike Tomlin. Mullen fits the mold of what the Steelers like at corner. A long, athletic player with upside. Say no more, Mullen is the pick in round two.

ROUND 3a: D’Andre Walker – EDGE – GeorgiaKeith Butler was spotted at the Georgia pro-day. Most think he was there to see corner Deandre Baker, but the Steelers have a need at edge too. Walker would be a nice addition to the outside linebacker depth.

ROUND 3b: Miles Boykin – WR – Notre Dame

Boykin is scheduled for a pre-draft visit, and both Colbert and Tomlin were at the Notre Dame pro-day. We know the team has a gaping hole at receiver now. It certainly appears Boykin is on the radar.

ROUND 4: Justice Hill – RB – Oklahoma St.

The Steelers already have his teammates Mason Rudolph and James Washington on the roster, why not complete the trio. The team met with Hill at the combine, so there is real interest. The speedy running back would be a nice compliment to James Conner.

ROUND 5: Foster Moreau – TE – LSU

Filling another big need with Moreau here. The Steelers had a big contingent at the LSU pro-day, so they got a good look at Moreau. He had an excellent combine which may raise his stock too high for the fifth round. For now though, Moreau would be a nice get here.

ROUND 6a: Sheldrick Redwine – S – Miami

Redwine is the kind of athlete the Steelers like. He ran a 4.44/40 yard dash among his many impressive numbers at the NFL combine. This would be a great late round flyer.

ROUND 6b: Armon Watts – DT – Arkansas

Watts could provide some depth along the defensive line, and maybe finally push Dan McCullers off the roster. He has some pass-rushing skills as evidenced by his eight sacks last season.

ROUND 6c: Penny Hart – WR – Georgia St.

Penny Hart opened some eyes at the Senior Bowl. He’s a short (5’8″) quick receiver who projects as a slot type. Hart also had a good year as a punt returner averaging over 17 yards a return.

ROUND 7: Ulysees Gilbert III – LB – Akron

Small school linebacker with some good athletic traits. Special teamer with a bit of upside.
