With the combine and free agency over, and player visits in full swing we can begin to get a clearer picture on who the Steelers may be interested in.  From now on the mocks will be focused on what I believe the Steelers will do come draft time.

Round 1:

Marlon Humphrey –  CB –  Alabama:  It seems more and more likely Pittsburgh will go defensive back with the first pick.  Humphrey is 6’0″,  197lbs and ran the 40 in 4.41 seconds.  That checks all the boxes for a tall, fast, athletic corner they now seem to favor.  Add to that the fact that Humphrey was in for a pre-draft visit and you have yourself a strong candidate for pick number 30.

Round 2:

Tim Williams – EDGE – Alabama:  Two straight University of Alabama players for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  This time it’s a pass rushing specialist coming their way.  Williams may be the best pure pass rusher in the draft and would be a top 15 pick if not for all the red flags associated with him.  Between the failed drug tests and the less then stellar combine, Williams has cost himself about 40-50 spots in this draft.  It is a risky pick, but if he can manage to stay focused on football Pittsburgh may have themselves a steal here.

Round 3a:

D’onta Foreman – RB – Texas:  Kevin Colbert and company have had very few running backs in for visits this offseason.  That either means they aren’t planning on taking one, or they have a pretty good feel for who they want.  I vote for the latter and have them grabbing Foreman here.  The Texas product is a big back at 230lbs, and ran a blazing 4.45 forty yard dash at his pro day.  Foreman would make an excellent compliment to Le’Veon Bell’s patient style with his speed and power combination.

Round 3b:

Alex Anzalone – LB – Florida:  Anzalone is an athletically gifted linebacker who could be used inside or on the edge.  The downside on him of course is all the injuries.  He missed 20 out of a possible 48 games in his college career.  Having an extra third round pick allows the Steelers to roll the dice a little here.

Round 4:

Josh Dobbs – QB – Tennessee:  You can read all the reasons why I  think Dobbs is a good fit for Pittsburgh here Josh Dobbs is the quarterback to target for the Steelers.  He’s now been in for a pre-draft visit as well, meaning they have interest.  Colbert and Tomlin have hinted it may be time to look for a successor to Ben Roethlisberger, and they take a swing here in round four.
