At 6-5, and the division slipping away, it isn’t easy to find things Steelers fans should be thankful for in 2025. Yet in true Thanksgiving spirit, I pulled together 10 things we can be thankful for in Steelers nation:
1. Andy Weidl:
While the “Khan Artist” chants rain through social media after every Steelers draft, this is the man truly behind the picks. Andy Weidl was brought in to fill the gap of scouting in the general manager office. Under Weidl, the Steelers have acquired players like Nick Herbig, Darnell Washington, Troy Fautanu, and many more.
2. Darnell Washington:
Speaking of Darnell Washington, thank you for providing at least some excitement in an otherwise dull Steelers offense. Watching him strike fear into opposing linebackers and DBs is must see tv.
3. Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson:
Thankfully these two have missed significant time due to injury, allowing the Steelers to remain in the AFC North hunt. Without that, this may already be a lost season.
4. Kevin Colbert:
We are thankful for Kevin Colbert for providing us with the best offensive weapon (Jaylen Warren), and the two best defensive players (TJ Watt and Cam Heyward), despite having been retired for 4 years now. Bravo sir.
5. The Cleveland Browns:
We are eternally thankful for the Cleveland Browns franchise. Having the Browns in the AFC North means every year no one else has to worry about a last place finish! Never change Cleveland!
6. The San Francisco 49ers:
We are especially thankful to the 49ers for not trading Brandon Aiyuk to Pittsburgh. They spared us yet another diva wide receiver crashout.
7. George Pickens:
We are thankful for George Pickens for reminding us what a true top tier receiver looks like. It may be a while before we see it again……
8. TJ Watt and Cam Heyward:
Thankful for the two future Hall of Famers for giving everything they have year after year. They will both retire without a playoff win with the Steelers, and deserve so much better.
9. Mike Tomlin:
We are thankful for Mike Tomlin here at Steelers Sanctuary for giving us endless hours of content. His deficiencies as a head coach keep us busy all year long.
10. Art Rooney:
Thanks to Art Rooney for the Ireland game…… wait that was for him. Actually thanks for nothing Art!
